The COS Intensive Training Pathway now carries IACET continuing education credits

Each course in the COS Intensive Training Pathway now qualifies for IACET continuing education credits: 6.5 IACET CEU across 65 hours of online content.

COS Intensive

For Providers Working with Families at Risk

The first course the Circle of Security co-founders taught, more than 25 years ago, was for clinicians who wanted to learn what we now call COS Intensive™. It ran 10 days in a church basement in Spokane, Washington, and delivered 60 hours of content, from theory to clinical case review. Participants called it transformative. Many also said it felt like drinking from a fire hose.

How Far It Has Come

In May 2026, our colleagues at Marymead CatholicCare Canberra & Goulburn (MCCG) celebrated 20 straight years of running COS Intensive groups. Parents and providers gathered to share stories of support, connection, change and gratitude. Read what it looks like when an agency goes all in on attachment.

Working Together

Working with the MCCG team to train new generations of clinicians led to the COS Intensive Training Pathway, an online package built for busy clinicians to complete over 12 to 18 months. Each course in the three-course series now qualifies for IACET continuing education credits. Across the series, you can earn 6.5 IACET CEU, reflecting 65 hours of content.

Who It Is For

The Pathway begins with COSP Training. From there, how far you go depends on your role. The courses are online, so you need a steady Wi-Fi connection, a computer, and a wish to learn how the Circle of Security informs intensive clinical work with families at risk.

Steps 1 to 3

Open to any provider. No psychotherapy background required.

Steps 4 and 5

For psychotherapists working with at-risk clients.
