General

We have revised and updated the pathway to endorsement as a COS-Intensive Provider. As of 9.1.22 the ATP exam will no longer be used as part of the pathway to endorsement as a COS-Intensive Provider. Instead, an Online Intensive Case Review course, along with the Intro to COS-I Treatment Course Series, and Case-Based Consultation are used to build competencies. Case-based Consultation includes the use of a competency-based checklist of key skills that are to be reviewed by both the Provider candidate and her/his Supervisor. Those who have completed the COS-Intensive training within the past five years (as of 9.1.22) and taken the ATP exam and passed are eligible to access Supervision; however, individuals interested in completing their training must reach out to neil[at]circleofsecurityinternational[dot]com to discuss requirements. Those who did not complete the exam within 5 years of their training are eligible to restart their pathway to Endorsement.

Individuals who completed training more than 5 years before 9.1.22 are expected to retake the COS-Intensive training; we have updated the protocol, manual and training process. Please reach out to neil[at]circleofsecurityinternational[dot]com for questions.

Because psychologists, educators, childcare professionals, counselors, and others have found these graphics to be useful for parents and professionals in explaining the core themes of attachment behavior in young children, we want to make them readily available through this website. Please see the Languages, Materials & Translations section of this page for more information.

For specific requests related to publishing Circle of Security materials, approval is given only to non-profit organizations and academic/professional publications upon review by Circle of Security International. Please email info(at)circleofsecurityinternational(dot)com to receive a permission request form. Requests take approximately 4 weeks to review.

Although we would very much like to be of assistance, we simply do not have the time available for consultation at such a level. Attachment related material raises many concerns and opens many insights as it is being learned. Please consider contacting a professional in your local area.

We do not have any affiliation with the Mary D. Ainsworth Child-Parent Attachment Clinic or their Circle of Security® trainings. Dr. Robert Marvin has co-ownership of the Circle of Security trademark for the graphic, and is part of our research history. The trainings offered by his group are different in structure and content from the Circle of Security protocol. There may be imitators out there offering trainings or other services related to attachment theory or purporting to offer trainings related to the Circle of Security. Look for the official CIRCLE OF SECURITY® brand or Circle of Security International logo to ensure that you are attending an authentic training that is authorized by our team.

No. The trainings we provide are for the practitioners to learn how to use the COS protocol. For COSP™ classes from Registered Circle of Security Parenting Facilitators, use our Find-A-Facilitator directory.

We rely on local sponsors to help us bring a COSI training to any community. If you or your organization are interested in becoming a sponsor of a training, please contact Bill Bloom at bill[at]circleofsecurityinternational[dot]com for more information.

The easiest way to stay up to date on future trainings is to frequently check the Course Listing page of our web site.

Continuing Education Units

COSI is accredited by the International Accreditors for Continuing Education and Training (IACET), and we offer IACET CEUs for some of our courses. IACET is recognized internationally as a standard development organization and accrediting body that promotes quality of continuing education and training. You can learn more about IACET here.

The Continuing Education Unit (CEU) was created by IACET as a measurement of continuing education. One (1) IACET CEU is equal to ten (10) contact hours of participation in an organized continuing education experience under responsible sponsorship, capable direction, and qualified instruction.

We chose to work with IACET because it is recognized internationally as a standard of good practice.

You will need to submit your certificate to your licensing agency. Each U.S. state and country have unique requirements. Please check the specific requirements for your licensing board.

Parenting DVD

An “Individual Contract” is the most typical and establishes an agreement between the attendee and Circle of Security International regarding their responsibilities as a Registered Circle of Security Parenting Facilitator, as well as being responsible for the COSP video files and Manuals. These contracts will be made available on the last day of the training.

The COSP™ video files can only be obtained after completing the Parenting Facilitator training.

If you are in need of replacement COSP materials, please contact info[at]circleofsecurityinternational[dot]com for purchasing information.
