Description
Each COS Classroom™ Coach enters this work with a different life journey and different areas of expertise, training, and work experience. For some, attending the Coach training begins a journey toward a deeper understanding of the Circle of Security®. We recognize how much of a struggle it can be to develop an in-depth understanding of core concepts on your own. We all need Hands and access to ongoing support.
Our Coaching Support Sessions are designed to help COS Classroom Coaches maintain endorsement and, through continued practice, deepen fidelity to the COS coaching model. These live, interactive sessions provide a structured space for continued learning, reflection, and connection within a community of peers, offering both coach consultation and relational support grounded in the COS Classroom approach.
We hope that each of you find the Coaching Support Sessions helpful as you continue the journey of self-discovery and deepen your understanding of Circle of Security. And welcome to the club!
What each session includes
- Coaching Session Fidelity Journal: start each call by sharing reflections from your journal and learn more about your own and others' strengths and areas for growth in coaching
- Time for Q&A: participants are invited to share coaching topics or questions
- Practice-Based Coaching: coach mentors offer the parallel process to model the coaching approach
- Coaching in Action: collaborative learning of the COS coaching model
- Network Building: connect and build community with fellow coaches
About coach consultation
Sessions also offer opportunities for coach consultation centered on a specific situation rather than the broader development of any one coach. Key characteristics include:
- Problem-solving around a particular example, stuck point, or coaching challenge
- Can be peer-to-peer (not necessarily hierarchical)
- Does not carry the same ongoing accountability or evaluative function as supervision
- Focused on a particular case, rather than on the coach's own developmental edges
- May be sought as needed rather than as a regular commitment
