On the Diving Board: Navigating Facilitator Choice Points in COSP

Workshop Region Online 1 hour

When a parent sits with a trauma story, the pull toward reassurance, advice, or practical solutions can feel like care. Sometimes that pull belongs to the facilitator, a Shark Music™ response to the discomfort of sitting in pain without fixing it. This 60-minute workshop invites COSP™ facilitators to explore that distinction honestly, and to develop a more conscious, grounded approach to Being With™ in the moment. We will also explore choice points. Deciding in the moment when to take a deeper dive with the caregiver who is sharing, when to hold by Being With, when to offer resources.

Join Deborah Harris, a COSI Facilitator Trainer, as she invites us to consider how COSP can strengthen our work with others.

Description

Every COSP session holds moments where facilitators stand at the edge. A parent shares something raw, a memory surfaces, or suffering lingers in the room. In that pause, there is a choice: to stay on the familiar end of the board, or to step forward into the unknown. When a parent sits with a trauma story, the pull toward reassurance, advice, or practical solutions can feel like care. Often it is. But sometimes that pull belongs to the facilitator, a Shark Music™ response to the discomfort of sitting in pain without fixing it. This 60-minute workshop invites COSP™ facilitators to explore that distinction honestly, and to develop a more conscious, grounded approach to Being With™ in the moment.
