Learning Together Communities program – supporting families through playgroups and parenting groups

I am an Early Childhood Family Educator in St. Paul Minnesota. In MN we have a unique statewide family education program called ECFE where children birth to 5 years and their parents/caregivers come to school to learn together and separately. Early Childhood teachers and Parent Educators support parents in being their child’s first and best teacher. Families connect with one another, build community and take time to reflect on their child’s development, parenting and the kind of parent they would like to be. Our St. Paul program serves very diverse families of all backgrounds. In my career as a parent educator I have focused on infant and toddler development. As an Early Childhood Educator I have extensive experience teaching children birth to 5 years.

As a recovery doula/ peer support I aid families that have recovery and mental health struggles. This includes group classes about prenatal, birth and postpartum but also parenting classes. COSP will aid with those classes period the deeper perspective will benefit them immensely not only in parenting but finding mental balance and confidence in self.

I work in the men’s and fathering space as a ‘Social Worker’ and ‘Parenting Program Facilitator Counsellor. I am passionate about men’s health and wellbeing addressing family and magistrates court experiences, generational fathering, transgenerational traumas and Adverse Child Hood experiences that inform choices of behaviour including gender based violence and suicidal ideations. Facilitating evidence based programs to men, fathers and father figures no mater what psycho-social or socio-economic background to support better outcomes for them, their families and children.

The programs/workshops I facilitate are based around addressing and limiting the impact of generational and intergenerational issues that exclude and don’t meet current societal norms. Currently facilitated in local communities, rehabs and in partnership with other orgs.
