Emily Odjaghian
PsyD

9003 Weston Parkway, Cary NC 27513
Cary, North Carolina
United States

Dr. Emily Odjaghian is the Clinical/Executive Director of the Lucy Daniels Center. Lucy Daniels Center is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization devoted to the healthy emotional development of young children. Throughout its 30 years of service, Lucy Daniels Center has expanded to become the largest nonprofit provider of mental health services for children in the Triangle with multifaceted mental health resources for children, their parents and teachers.

The principle which underlies all the Center’s programs is the belief that the contemporary psychoanalytic model of emotional life is a powerful tool for helping children become flexible, strong, and happy individuals. If parents, teachers, and children themselves understand the ways in which children’s biology, experience, and temperament influence the development of personality, behavior, and even cognitive function, many difficult school, family, and personal problems can be solved or avoided. COSP is a core component of ways that LDC supports caregivers and families.

COSP groups are offered by multiple staff. Additionally, Dr. Odjaghian is a certified Fidelity Coach for COSP group facilitators.

As an Infant Early Childhood Mental Health Consultant, I use Circle of Security in both the daycare setting, as well as the Family Provider Setting. In both settings we are looking to further the understanding of Attachment Theory. When providers and parents alike are able to better understand a foundational theory and learn strategies it serves as one of the best ways to instill the necessary resilience in infants and small children. Classes are broken up and delivered at nighttime. Small group delivery via in person or Zoom, for young and new parents, and for larger and smaller centers and groups.

HuemanKind believes in the diversity of human experience. Our pains, joys and everyday messiness are both universal and wildly unique to each of us. We value the strengthening of communities and individuals. We aim to do this through supporting healing in the counselling process, group work programs and community development in advocacy, training and awareness of community issues.

I am the founder of Huemankind. My name is Aarti Roxanne Rodricks. I go by Aarti, Roxanne or Roxy. I believe strongly in the power of safety, human connection and community in healing.

I have worked in roles across various community settings supporting children, young people and families in healing from trauma, specialising in sexual trauma over the last decade. From residential care to outreach to group work and counselling, I have been privileged to hear the greatest joys and deepest pain of people’s stories and count myself incredibly fortunate to help them see the light in their dark moments.

Circle of Security plays an important role in my practice. It has enhanced the power of being reflective and growing connection and attachment between children and their caregivers. I aim to run two COSP programs (1x online, 1 x in person) over each school term. The online program will run on a weekday evening and the in-person program will be available on a Wednesday morning.

I look forward to connecting with other caregivers and providing a space for safety and reflection.
